Travel Journal: Mohonk, NY, Switzerland, & Italy
Day 1: August 25, 1999
Fly from San Francisco to New York
The trip out was relatively smooth. We got to SF airport without much trouble, but not surprisingly, there were delays taking off. We left an hour late, with Walendo in first class (W: free ticket due to some cashed in FF miles!) and me wedged in a window seat on a 5-seat row, despite having reserved an aisle. Walendo had a pleasant chat with Laura (W: part of the 1st class service, apparently, is pairing you up with an attractive member of the opposite sex...), dining on omelets and fresh fruit and champagne while I had some dense scrambled eggs and stale pretzels. They wouldn't even let me go up to talk with him! In any case, we got to NY and met Mom and Dad at the airport. We dropped Walendo off at his Mom's, saying a quick hello to his mom, and then went off to Ben's for some NY deli, which was delicious. I chatted with Mom & Dad and then we went off to bed.
