Travel journal: Olympic Peninsula and San Juan Islands, Washington
Intro and Itinerary
 | Lime Kiln Lighthouse, San Juan Island | This is a journal of our trip to northwest Washington, including the Olympic Peninsula and the San Juan Islands, taken in August of 2004. We spent most of the trip hiking, kayking, browsing in art galleries, and exploring the islands by car. The scenery is beautiful and if you can manage to avoid getting rained on too much, as we did, it's easy to spend a lot of time just sitting in a pretty place and enjoying the scene. Highlights for us included hiking in the Hoh Rain Forest (Day 2), kayaking on the San Juan Strait (Day 3), and exploring San Juan Island (Day 6).
